The curriculum of primary and nursery schools in the Czech Republic includes as one of the main themes the theme of family. Subjective theories of teachers about the family can affect this issue; therefore in the article attention is focused on the detection of these implicit theories of teachers. The paper describes the results obtained on the basis of frequency analysis of the verbs used to define the concept of the family (N = 219 future and practicing teachers). The results show that teachers’ implicit verbal concept of family is derived from at least one of the three aspects: an emotional attribute (family are people linked by an emotional bond), structural attribute (family mainly consists of parents and their children), and location attribute (family is the place where we grow up and to where we return, family is home).These attributes are commented in the paper
