Mr. Smith teaches in the Auburn University Department of Building Science. He has a Master of Science in Construction Management and over 20 years of construction industry experience. Mr. Smith teaches classes in scheduling, safety, mechanical systems, plans and specifications, and graduate courses in management and planning. He is now doing research and writing on temporary lighting on construction projects as part of a CIF Grant. He is also working on a United States Department of Energy grant that is focusing on the Gulf Coast of the United State’s rebuilding effort after the 2005 hurricane season. The grant supported seminars address the wind resistant techniques and materials, water damage mitigation techniques and materials, and energy efficient techniques and materials, used in residential and commercial construction. Mr. Smith is a newcomer to teaching, having started in 2000. He is writing on the challenges of teaching, especially for fellow newcomers.
