According to the aimed objectives and to the appliance moments, there are three types of evaluation of the educational performances: the diagnosis evaluation, the final evaluation and the formative evaluation.
1. The diagnosis evaluation - can be defined as an initial exploration that provides on one hand certain information regarding the relationship between the student and the discipline that is to be studied and on the other hand information that allow the calculation of the percentage of probability in which the given discipline can be learned.
2. The formative evaluation - this type of evaluation is realized during the entire educational process. It allows the comparison of the partial results referring to the students’ knowledge level (individual and of a group), at the same time offering the possibility to correct certain deficiencies from the educational process.
3. The final evaluation - this type of evaluation, that is traditionally speaking the most ample, is realized at the end of a study period. With its help, the Professor analyses the knowledge level of his students and takes educative decisions (promotes, certifies, excludes etc.) with a definitive character.
During the qualitative evaluation process of the students, the educational performances evaluation method plays a very important role. These methods can be classic (the evaluation tests) or modern (the observation, the questionnaire or the computer assisted evaluation). The choice of one method or another is based on the objective that is to be evaluated. In order to better understand what we said the paper will present the interdependence between the type of the analyzed objective and the type of the evaluation method in some very suggestive tables and figures.
