The main aims for this research are to identify the best approach in teaching worm analysis and to develop a system that is capable to assist users to have a better understanding on the worm analysis. An in-depth study had been carried out to identify the best way of teaching worm analysis. As a result, it has been identified that computer simulation has greater impact and as one of the best approach in teaching worm analysis. Based on the result found, a system called as WAtCOS (Worm Analysis through Computer Simulation) System has been developed to assist in teaching worm analysis. The WAtCOS system that was developed is capable of educating and helping users in understanding the worm analysis and at the same time helps to control computer virus propagation.

Emran Mohd Tamil is a lecturer at the Department of System and Computer Technology, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Malaya. He obtained his Master of Science in Information Technology from the Universiti Teknologi Mara in 2004. His current research areas include network security, system-on-chip, SCADA, wireless sensor network and digital signal processing for medical application.
