Achieving national progress and stability is predicated upon a country’s sound technology base. This also will be possible to the extent of how good the technical education that is run in such a place. This is the thrust of this paper which gave a comprehensive meaning of technical education as education for self reliance, among other purposes. The paper looks at some reasons why the third world nations are so called. This, it says is as a result of their lack of will to take their countries to greater heights through technical education. Lastly, the paper makes some recommendations to convince leaders of thought, governments, etc, that national greatness is very much possible using technical education as a sure means.
