Professor Medina works in Philosophy of Language and Philosophy of Mind. Central topics of his research include language learning and the cultural roots of cognition. His research on language and cognition has focused on the following authors: Bakhtin, Dewey, Mead, Vygotsky, and Wittgenstein. He has published "The Unity of Wittgenstein's Philosophy" (2002) and "Speaking from the Margins" (forthcoming) with SUNY Press. He has also published articles on language learning in Cognition, The Journal of Pragmatics, and Philosophical Forum.
