Before taking up her appointment at Umulliko, Wendy Hanlen was a part time Lecturer in Aboriginal Education and PhD student in the School of Humanities, University of Newcastle, NSW. Before that she served as an Independent Consultant and assisted in teacher in-service training of the 1996 NSW Aboriginal Education Policy. Her most recent publication is a book chapter, ‘Indigenous literacies: Moving from Social Construction Towards Social Justice’ in Makin & Jones Diaz (Eds), Literacies in Early Childhood - Changing Views, Challenging Practice published by Maclennan in 2002.
